How we handle your photo and details
DoorCanvas runs the garage door visualiser for the door company whose page you used. This page explains what happens to the photo you add and the details you send.
Your photo
- We use your photo only to find your garage door and show the company's doors on it. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell it.
- DoorCanvas may look at your photo, and at how the doors were shown on it, to find and fix problems with the visualiser. For this we note which doors you looked at and whether you adjusted the door's corners, but not your name or number.
- To find the door, a copy is sent to fal.ai, the AI service we use. We set that copy to expire after one hour. fal.ai handles it under its own privacy policy and terms.
- Your photo, the images we make from it and those notes are deleted from our server 90 days after you add it. Our encrypted backups can keep a copy for up to 7 days after that.
- The list of photos you have added is kept in your own browser, so you can go back to them. It is not shared with anyone.
If you send your door to the company
- Your name, phone number, message, and the picture of your garage with the door you chose are kept in the company's enquiries inbox, and emailed to them if they have chosen that.
- If you then message the company on WhatsApp, the message includes a private link to the picture (not your name or number), so they can see it in the chat. Anyone you or they pass the link to can open it. The link stops working after 90 days.
- The company uses them only to reply to you about the door. They stay in the inbox until the company deletes them.
Questions or deletion
Contact the door company whose page you used. They can delete your enquiry straight away and ask us to delete your photo.
